Formal Yet Casual Tablescape

Have you ever been to a party that was a denim and diamonds theme. I think if I had a theme to my life that’s what it would be…. Or maybe sweats and pearls. I’m just trying to be real here people. I’ve done many tablescapes with a polarized theme because I’m one of those people who doesn’t want to be put in a box….

I don’t even want to see the box!!! Put the dang box in the recycle please! An example of one was my parents 50th wedding anniversary surprise party. I had traveled all night, I was exhausted putting it together, so I didn’t take many pictures, but I’ll find some for you. My dad is originally from Idaho and one of the places his parents would take the kids is Red Fish Lake Idaho.

As children my parents would keep up the tradition and we’d drive all day from San Diego and spend time at the mountain lake. I’ve been a few places around the world and Red Fish Lake is in the top two of the most beautiful lakes I’ve ever seen (Lake Lucerne Switzerland just barely beat it out for the number one spot, barely).

So of course, that’s where my parents went on their honeymoon!! So we surprised them there with our whole family and some extended family and had dinner and cake. Getting them there without them knowing what was going on is another story. So…. It being their gold anniversary and yet being in the middle of the Saw Tooth mountains I decided gold and burlap was my theme! ‘Cause you have to have a theme! Ok…so you really don’t…. that would be a box. 😊

Whew, long story to get us to this point. Formal mixed with casual is awesome!! This tablescape is a great mixture, leaning toward casual, ‘cause I’m a casual person. I do occasionally like a good pair of 5 inch heels just to mix things up so I threw in some formal elements just to keep things interesting. This black white green and silver is my denim and diamonds display. I hope you enjoy this idea, I really enjoyed putting this one together!! And remember, the only box you should have is one that has a present wrapped in it 😉
