Halloween!! We LOVE Halloween in my house! And fall is our favorite season! I do a major overhaul on my decor for autumn however; a lot of the time even though we totally celebrate Halloween my Halloween decor doesn’t always get used as much as my fall décor. So, I decided this year that I wanted to do a Halloween tablescape.

Sometimes we just need a special family dinner with some good spooky décor. Or, for you empty nesters a fun way to start off the night before the treat-giving begins. So, Invite over some friends and break out the chains and drippy candles for your table! Even if you’re just having pizza, and handing out candy to little goblins, having a hauntingly awesome tablescape will make the holiday feel more festive.

This tablescape started off as a plain black and white spooky table but I decided to add some blood red napkins when I found these little eyeballs that had red in them. Then I added some sparkly silverware, because, why not? The elements that I believe makes this a pretty good tablescape are the height and light.

There is a school of thought that says ‘don’t put it at eye level’ this is because it’ll be in your line of sight when you’re trying to talk across the table. I totally agree with this most of the time, there are three times when I don’t…
- When the table is that certain size where you can lean an inch one way and totally see fine.
- When you really don’t want to talk to the person across from you; and
- Whenever I want to break this rule 😉.

In this case the table has swivel chairs and it’s not a problem at all. The lighting is always a hugely overlooked part of the tablescape. I always try to have at least candles, but they have these amazing battery powered fairy lights that add a huge ‘wow’ factor to your table. On this table I used old drippy candles, and a string of fairy lights in the chains by the skulls.

I also have some fairy lights in the window box behind the table, just for a little ‘more’. With ‘light’ on your table other lights can be turned off for more ambiance. I hope you get some inspiration! Happy Tablescaping!
