Large Wall Décor Ideas

Do you have a giant wall that remains empty? Or perhaps a long hallway that is in the ‘someday I want to do something with this wall’ category? I think most of us do. Big walls are hard. Try to put a bunch of small things up and they all get lost in the size of wall and big stuff, well… big stuff usually comes with a big price tag.

So here’s an idea I’ve used in a couple areas of my house. Poster frames. Huh? I don’t mean my Kevin Bacon poster I had when Footloose came out (I may possibly be talking about the original Footloose), but something either personal like family photos, or just plain pretty. In this case I used wallpaper that went with the theme and palette of my living room.

(Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik) Dark blue and beachy. And for a long hallway by the master, I did a photo collage of my kids in front of the Lost Dutchman Mountains. I’m pretty happy with how both projects came out. The frames I bought ended up being too big for the poster-sized prints I had of my kids and buying mats for giant frames is ha hem…expensive. But no need to fear I had an idea.

I found this beautiful thin cork fabric. Yes, you heard me correctly, FABRIC. I have no idea how it would have worked as a sewing project, but for a faux mat for poster frames it did pretty darn good. If there’s one thing I use consistently in decorating it’s natural elements. Can’t beat them. For beauty, style and pizazz. The natural cork as a mat for outdoor photography is amazing.

I like to dabble in painting. I like artistic outlets. It’s my thing. I’d like to do a couple paintings at some point for the living room, but I had a deadline to get things decorated and put away so that’s on a future list of ‘to-dos’. So the front room I did wall paper in poster frames.

There are so many different wall papers, every color, style, anything you can dream up, so the choices are endless! AND…so easy to change!! If you’ve ever had to take wallpaper off the wall, even with all the tools, it’s pretty much hell. SO this eliminates all that frustration. You’re welcome.
